CHS Seniors raise money for Janell LaCombe Cancer Fund
On December 3rd, 2022, Elizabeth Melancon and Kaitlyn Miller brought back the Father Daughter Dance to Catholic of Pointe Coupee. When Elizabeth and Kaitlyn were discussing their Senior project with Lauren Doucet, Dean of Students, they all came up with the idea of having the Father Daughter dance again. The last time the Father Daughter dance was held it was 2019, prior to the COVID pandemic. They knew they wanted their proceeds to go to the Janell LaCombe Fund, which is part of the Pointe Coupee Health Service Foundation, and assists patients with cancer in our community. The dance was offered to children from HH3-5th grade. Kaitlyn and Elizabeth were very pleased with the attendance. They also served snacks of cookies, brownies and other delights. The young ladies raised one of the largest donations ever from a senior project of $3003.00. Senior projects donations from the surrounding schools are one of the reason’s the Janell LaCombe Fund is able to assist so many in our Parish. Elizabeth is the daughter of Brandon, and Ashley Melancon, and Kaitlyn is the daughter of Robert and Trisha Miller.
