Pointe Coupee Hospice and Pointe Coupee Homebound Health Services would like to congratulate PC Hospice Volunteer, Cindy Gaspard, for being selected as the 2010 LMHPCO Heart of Hospice Louisiana Winner!
Cindy and her dog, Wrinkles, provide an invaluable service by providing “pet therapy” to our hospice patients.
Members of the Pointe Coupee Health Services Foundation recently accepted a donation from New Roads Friends of Main Street Director, George Miller.
Hospice is considered to be the model for quality, compassionate care at the end-of-life. Having more information about hospice care allow Americans to make educated decisions about their end-of-life care.
While all licensed and Medicare certified hospice agencies provide the same basic end-of-life care services, each hospice interdisciplinary team is a unique provider and has its own collective personality.
During 2018 both Pointe Coupee Hospice and Pointe Coupee Homebound Health were recognized for their outstanding care and outstanding patient and caregiver satisfaction. Pointe Coupee Hospice were the receipt of the 2018 Hospice Honors Award. Pointe Coupee Homebound Health was awarded the 2018 HHCAPS Honors Elite Award. Congratulations to both outstanding local agencies.
Catholic High School of Pointe Coupee Senior, Olivia Beauvais, was recently nominated by the Pointe Coupee Hospice Staff for the 2018 “Volunteers Are the Foundation of Hospice” Award. This award is presented to an outstanding student hospice volunteer. “Being nominated for this award is a very special honor in and of itself. It signifies how very important Olivia’s contributions are to your hospice and the community”, stated Diane Snyder Cowan, National Council of Hospice and Palliative Care Professionals Awards Committee Chairperson. Out of approximately 200 nominations, Olivia placed in the top 5 in the country in her category.
Blanche Jewell, Pointe Coupee Hospice Volunteer Coordinator, has been named the 2016 LMHPCO’s Heart of Hospice Award Winner! On July 28, 2016 during the annual LMHPCO Conference at the Loews Hotel in New Orleans the winners were presented with the award and recognized. Jenny Settoon, LCSW for Pointe Coupee Hospice, introduced Blanche to the audience that included invited guests of Blanche- family, friends and co-workers.The Heart of Hospice is an annual award presented by the Louisiana-Mississippi Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (LMHPCO). The recipient of this award is a hospice team member from each of the two states who has demonstrated outstanding achievements in hospice and end-of-life care.
Dr. Robert N. Helm was a family practice physician in New Roads for many years. After Dr. Helm’s retirement from his private practice he has continued to work as the medical director for Pointe Coupee Homebound Health and Hospice.
Pointe Coupee Hospice would like to thank the LTC-Jumonville Memorial welding students and their welding instructor for their generous donation of time and talent for welding several Sheppard’s hooks for our hospice volunteer program.
Pointe Coupee Hospice is really proud of our hospice volunteer program. Sylvia Chustz has a quilt making business called Sew Special and she donates some of her handmade quilts to our hospice patients. Cindy Woodrow has a monogram and embroidery business out of her home called RBS Embroidery, she uses her talents to monogram the phrase, “Quilts of Love from Pointe Coupee Hospice” on each quilt, and Carol Gautreau is also one of our handmade quilt makers.
