Jeanine Thibodeaux, RN, Administer Recognized at 2019 HCLA Conference
Congratulations to our agency administrator, Jeanine L. Thibodeaux, RN, recipient of the Home Care Association of Louisiana award for “Setting an Example for All”. Jeanine was presented this award July 25, 2019 at the HCLA Conference in New Orleans.
The HomeCare Association of Louisiana is a non-profit association dedicated to providing its membership with advocacy, direction, education, and leadership, as well as to promote and support high industry standards for home care providers in Louisiana.
Hospice is considered to be the model for quality, compassionate care at the end-of-life. Having more information about hospice care allow Americans to make educated decisions about their end-of-life care.
Is knee, hip or shoulder replacement surgery in your future? If you or a loved one has had or will be having joint replacement surgery your surgeon may order in home nursing care and therapy. Pointe Coupee Homebound Health Services has worked with many of the orthopedic surgeons in the Baton Rouge, Zachary, and other areas for many years to provide this type of post-surgery care.
While all licensed and Medicare certified hospice agencies provide the same basic end-of-life care services, each hospice interdisciplinary team is a unique provider and has its own collective personality.
Pointe Coupee Homebound Health and Hospice will be hosting a free “Five Wishes” workshop. PCHHH is hosting this workshop because we understand planning for the future involves more than pension benefits or life and health insurance. We realize many of you are facing important decisions about medical care, especially with aging or ill family members, and that is why we wanted to make “Five Wishes” available to you.
Often times because we live in such small towns we find ourselves seeking medical treatment, surgery, or other health care needs in larger hospitals in large towns and cities. It is important for you to be aware that upon discharge if you are told that you need home health or hospice care there is a federal law that guarantees you the right to choose the home care or hospice provider that you may prefer to provide care for you in your home.
Pointe Coupee Homebound Health Services can provide VitalStim Plus therapy for patients with dysphagia or difficulty swallowing. VitalStim Plus provides neuromuscular electrical stimulation which helps recruit and re-educate muscles in the process of swallowing. Under the guidance of Pointe Coupee Homebound’s VitalStim certified speech therapist, Erin Cain, MA, CCC-SLP, patients partner in an interactive therapy that aids muscle strengthening to rehabilitate swallowing. Preset or customized programs allow the speech therapist to truly customize treatments while biofeedback and visuals create a patient focused experience that encourages engagement and achievement of goals.
